Preparing Your Guest Bedroom for Holiday Visitors

Dec 24, 2014

With the holiday season in full swing, you’ll no doubt be playing host to a number of friends and family, with some of them even staying overnight. To help them feel right at home, be sure that your guest bedroom has been furnished with everything they might need while they’re under your roof.

Be sure that your guest bedroom has a comfortable bed. Sleeping in a bed that is not your own can be an uncomfortable notion to begin with. You can do your part to help ease their stay by furnishing your guest bedroom with a comfortable bedroom set. Just throwing an inflatable mattress on the floor of your guest bedroom is a less than ideal set-up for your guests. Check out our post about choosing a mattress your guests will love.

Set a nightstand with a light and clock near the bed. Give your guests ample lighting and an area to keep their personal items while they slumber. You should also have a lot of flat, clean surfaces in your guest bedroom, where guests can unpack their belongings. It would also benefit them to have a desk where they can set up a laptop or other electronics, if possible.

Extra toiletries available in the bathroom. In case your guests happen to forget a few items at home, be sure that your bathroom is stocked with small samples of lotion, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste. Extra towels are also a good idea, if your guests didn’t remember to pack one for showering.

Essentially, your guest bedroom should serve as an extension of your guest’s own home. When putting together your guest bedroom, try treating it as if it were your own room. You don’t have to constantly update the furnishings on a regular basis, but just be sure that you’re offering your guests a room that even you’d be comfortable spending the night in.
